  1. Ooooh, I love the tactileness of the rug!! I have some questions if you don't mind ........... how many t-shirts did it take? Is it normal rug canvas etc. etc. ....... am just thinking it's something I could get the rest of the family to help with (for a change lol!).

  2. Ask away! I had a huge pile of t shirts that were too far gone to go to the charity shop so did a bit of googling to find a craft project for them.

I got a kits with the hessian (sacking), cutting guide and rag rugger from
    http://www.makings.co.uk/
All I will need to do now is buy some more hessian which is the cheapest bit of it. Lots of friends saw me making it and have donated their holey t shirts so I already have enough for at least one more rug.

Having done this one I've got more design ideas. Each colour is one garment apart from the white, which is old knickers. The rug is really really comfy to sit on and is hugely heavy.

  3. Thankyou!! I've just had a look at Makings but can't afford any new materials right now. However, I've done a bit of googling and found a couple of tutorials using a latch hook and rug canvas, both of which I have (somewhere!!) and now I'm overloaded with ideas ......... as if I needed another project lol! Thankyou, your rug is so inspirational (I used strips from some old cotton boxer shorts in a patchwork blind a couple of months back lol!).
