These have been gifted

.... so I can now share.

The teacup stand was made using Grandma's last remaining one. She was called May Mafeking because of when she was born! The handle is dodgy so its not useable anymore, the plate at the bottom is a vintage bread & butter plate. Drilled by my own fair hand.

The cushion is a hand knit cable jumper conversion, it has a brown floral inner. This has been filled with fleece offcuts and is very heavy. It has a criss-cross corset style ribbon fastening.

I did make one other gift but completely forgot to photograph it - doh.

My view today

I wanted to get in the Christmas spirit so donned my handmade Rudolph. He has been smiling up at me all day. Now which Christmas jumper to wear tomorrow ....

Basket lid

This is to go in a bathroom so I made it out of waterproof material with a jolly checked lining. Its got simple jersey for the ties as these should be more robust than ribbon. I thought the blue contrasted with the rust nicely. Its off to its new home soon.

On the lap tonight

I'm doing sixty (yes SIXTY) hexies for a solid round on the now huge scrap hexie piece. I'll wait and see if anyone reckonises their old clothes in this blue check. Still don't know what I'll use it for.

Christmas Garland

This is all properly sewn together, only took three years to put all the ingredients together permanently. The binding is old jeans made into bias binding, strips were1 1/2 inches wide. It hangs really well, stiff & bendy.

So many shades of green

but I still didn't have the right one so had to go and buy the one at the top. Done the maths, rods every 12cm, let the sewing commence

Windows seat

Patched, quilted, assembled and delivered. It's huge, nearly two metres long. Vast! The recipients had okayed a few of the fabrics but left the design to me. They were very happy.

Its filled with memory foam base, double layer wadding & an old sleeping bag. Its an envelope construction closed with Velcro.

Onto the next commission ....

My how you've grown

Realised I hadn't posted the progress that this piece has had recently. I'm finishing off 1 hexagon above the flowers then I've got another blue to do a lap with.

Another present with its recipient

A scaled up Kindle case, this time for a Kindle Fire. This required sizing up and the Fire is thicker too so the corners are larger to hold it too.

Flat warming pressie

This has been hiding away waiting for the big day and then getting to reveal on the blog. It was inspired by a wonderful Marc Johns drawing -

Couple of pics in progress and the finished article. Looking forward to seeing it installed.

Book bag

An old denim skirt came to me and it seemed a shame to chop it up. Its the ideal height for library book. Just a simple chop across the bottom and corners for the base and a strap from an old jeans leg

Camping makes

A little collection of chair back tidies and hanging tent pockets. Made from old jeans and trousers.  Happy tenting :)

One block finished

Not sure I can face counting how many to go.  The tops of my fingers need a rest anyhow.

I have a little reading to get on with for inspiration :)
