Thank-you mobile

We received these vintage discs and picture as a "Thank-you" from our daughter & her husband after their wedding. What to do with them to display them? They are some of our favourite songs! Ecco a mobile (made from an old one I already had)

Deciding on the next round.

I think I may need sunglasses when this is done to approach it. It's getting brighter & brighter but I ♥ it!

Deciding on Gillie's Layout

I think it like this one, I'm running out of room to put it out in full. I'm going to keep the star going in the neutral colours.

"Gillie" quilt update

The first round of hexie flowers are going in as the repairs to the centre are finished. This is going to be one colourful quilt. I love it's retro charm. Far braver than I'd ever be!

May group challenge

I'm doing a quilt a you go quilt. This month inspiration is "a drop in the ocean"
I've limited myself to one hour and scraps only.
Here's a little photo log of its construction....

"Gillie" quilt repairs - Step 1

I've taken out the nibbled hexies and also unpicked some good ones on the center section (a large star). I've made up some co-ordinating red hexies and replaced the points of each prong. There weren't any orange hexies to substitute and I want to retain as much of the original as possible. This will give the appearance of the star culminating in a red point whilst the orange will encompass the floral fabric. Some papers had to be reinserted to do effective hexie placement.

Starting repairing the damage

Most have spares in the box so I'm tackling them first. I need to see how many flowers I have before planning the quilt.

Only the best present .... ever

A time capsule arrived at my house last night (or more likely via a tardis as the giver is a Whovian). The original owner died years ago but these have been languishing in an attic for years. Following a death recently the house is being cleared and sold and nobody wanted them. My gorgeous friend knowing I love hexies got them for me. My mind is spinning, where to start? What do with them. The fabrics are in amazing condition, just a few mouse nibbled one that'll need replacing. The stitching is beautifu, far neater than mine. I'm going to try to find out the makers name so the label can pay tribute.

Finishing up

Found a spare frame for the doodle cloth so I'm filling up the little gaps at the side. This little flower looks like one in my garden but I don't know what it's called.

Vintage curtains hung

These were created from M&S 60/70s sheeting (a duvet cover), an embroidered tablecloth & mustard place mats. They are patchworked together, gathered and then applied to a black out lining. They are huge and were quite a handful but the client loves them & they join their other handmade furnishings.

Mollie Makes Project

Another thing on the go, this #molliemakes has taken over the kitchen table. Think the cutting out is going to take longer than the sewing.
